We are in the town of Ampezzo, in the Val Tagliamento, linked to history having been, for a short time, in the spring of 1944, the "capital" of the Free Zone of Carnia. The route starts from here, along the same we can visit the Carnia Geological Museum and the Davanzo Art Gallery, but also numerous and characteristic local churches (the Mediis one is interesting) and other pieces of history with the Vallo del Littorio in Preone, not forgetting the full contact with nature in the meadows and woods of the valley.

Ampezzo hourly

Tackling "Ampezzo" from the clockwise side is the most natural and flowing way, the only negative note is the ascent of "Castoia" you just have to get off and push.

Ampezzo counterclockwise

If we decide to face the Ampezzo counterclockwise, we will have the whole initial part of the route downhill with slight climbs, then in the second part we go up but not gradually.
